“ There are two places to eat here, the restaurant and the all day cafe. They both do hot food. We ate in the restaurant on a Friday night, to break up a long journey. Free car parking outside with spaces available. Inside, we had a nice table next to the window overlooking some fields. It was a decent range of food, well cooked and presented, for a respectable price. The lady who served us was friendly and welcoming. The site appears to be independently run by the same family who started up there many decades ago. There was an interesting display of old photos showing the history of the business at that site. ”

“ What a surprise and little gem, in the middle of (almost) nowhere. We stopped off during our drive south for a restroom break, some drinks and dinner. We landed lucky tonight arriving here. Lovely friendly faces met us as we walked through the door, and a modern decor, clean and welcoming bar too. A really great burger and steak and ale pie and I was grateful for the hot pot of tea too. Next door there is a cafe open 24/7 but this pub bar and pub grub was perfect for tonight. And excellent value for the portions and quality, just 32 for a burger with all the trimmings, steak and ale pie with veg and chunky wedges, a pint of orange/lemonade and pot of tea. Great parking and lots of spaces, the hotel looked nice from the outside. A lovely quiet night tonight but apparently can get quite busy a few evenings too. We have already and will be recommending to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely stop off and dinner. ”

“ Stopped for dinner on our way home. We ordered the delicious Gammon steak with pineapple, peas and skin on chips, Balmoral chicken, and baked cod with skin on chips. Dogs are allowed in the bar area, which has limited seats so may be worth a phone ahead to reserve a table. ”

“ Pleasant pit stop on the A1 on the way south from Edinburgh. Has clean, accessable toilets, with well spaced seating options and a range of sandwiches, cakes, biscuits etc to go with tea, coffees and a selection of cold drinks. It is sited next door to a service station if you need a fuel stop as well. ”
